Description: This modern Mexican restaurant tucks into a difficult triangular lot along the Columbia River creating an oasis in the high desert landscape of Richland, WA. Inspired by the playful but minimalistic modern style of famed Mexican architect Luis Barragan, the design consists of simple concrete block walls sliding around a central stucco mass to create intimate seating pockets and points of entry. Surrounded by unsightly surface parking on all sides but with high views to the river, this concept looks inward. A minimalist concrete block and stucco shell frame a naturally lit dining room organized around a playful pink bar that teams with plant life. A 2-story patio at the back of the restaurant wraps around a lush tree-filled courtyard space that bleeds into the dining room through large operable glass walls.
