Josh Hissong and Armando Hurtado have built a team of architects and designers who believe the places people work, live, and play can transform their experiences and improve their lives. Since launching HDG in 2010, they have grown the business alongside a team of passionate professionals into a multidisciplinary firm that specializes in architecture and collaborates with interior designers, engineers, graphic designers, and more to create cohesive, well-executed projects from concept to completion.

Until April 2026, interior design was an in-house part of HDG’s practice. That spring, Josh, Armando, and Aubrey Plaisance brought this work into Stroom Interiors, the procurement company they had built together over the preceding years. Sierra Wilson joined the team that same year, further expanding Stroom’s interior design capabilities.

Today, HDG and sister company Stroom Interiors work alongside one another to create cohesive spaces, inside and out. Our shared portfolios reflect that history and continued collaboration, spanning interiors developed within HDG and projects shaped together since. By aligning architecture, interior design, and furnishings, we offer clients a comprehensive design experience and a seamless process from concept through completion.

Since 2010, we’ve completed over 800 projects, spanning residential remodels, ground-up commercial projects, and, most notably, custom homes. Through it all, we’ve remained committed to refining our process and elevating the client experience.

the cost

Our fees are typically based on a percentage of construction cost and vary depending on project type, size, complexity, and anticipated timeframe. They are in line with industry standards, and we openly explain how our fixed fee is determined and what it includes.

Our job is to listen carefully and capture your vision. Your fixed fee will only change if you substantially change the agreed-upon scope, size, complexity, or schedule. If we overlook something you shared with us, addressing it is our responsibility.

Our work brings together a cohesive, thoughtfully appointed design and a coordinated set of construction documents for your builder. We collaborate with the necessary engineering consultants to create spaces that are functional, safe, and aesthetically cohesive.
